Usage Notes
- This tool identifies if a drug is above or below the general co-payment threshold from January 2005 to July 2012. The purpose of this is to identify if a drug can be studied in this historical data, which doesn't include under co-payment dispensings.
- Use:
- Prices from 2005 to 2012 are represented on a monthly basis, and colour coded depending on their distance from the general co-payment amount for that year.
- Green represents a price safely over the copayment threshold; Red represents a price safely under the copayment threshold.
- Yellow represents a price that's within $2 over the copayment threshold, and Orange represents a price within $2 under the threshold. This is distinguished because prices close to the threshold can go over or under depending on the individual pharmacy, or brand price premiums which aren't accounted for.
- Hover over a month to view the item's price for that period.
- Each item code has a colour underneath that summarises the overall status. Green = all green months. Yellow = Mix of green, red and/or yellow months. Red = all red months.
- Each ATC-Drug name pairing has a colour to the left of it, that summarises the overall status of each item code included in the group.
- Prices are displayed as the Dispensed Price for Maximum Quantity (DPMQ) - i.e. the maximum price for a given item. The actual price paid may differ, but this should be broadly accurate.
- Only item codes that had a price (i.e. were active) during the period between 2005-2012 are listed.
- Prices past July 2012 are always included in the data. These dates are included as either green (if there was a price available in June 2012) or grey (if there wasn't a price in June 2012, the item is assumed to be discontinued.
- Prices for dates prior to April 2007 may be inaccurate, as these had to be extracted from a worse quality data source :(
